Transform your Health with Juicing
I have vegetable issues. I am the first to admit that for most of my life I have not eaten an adequate amount of fruits and vegetables on a daily basis. The struggle is real for me! I decided at the beginning of this year that I would commit to juicing every day, for myself and my family. After several months of juicing, I have noticed that I am less bloated, my acne has been significantly reduced and my blood sugar is more regulated. I also have noticed that I have a LOT more energy.
Not only have I noticed these benefits for myself, but my once (extremely!!!) picky five-year old, is now drinking juice on a daily basis and eating his dinner EVERY SINGLE NIGHT! I couldn’t believe the improvement in his willingness to try new foods! I talk more about picky eaters here. Once you incorporate it into your everyday life, it becomes the norm. If I forget to make juice in the morning, my kids will remind me to make it! Now that is something I never thought would happen.
Juicing seems to be the buzzword out there in the health and wellness community right now. In my personal experience, it has changed my life! Experts recommend 5-9 servings of fruits and vegetables a day. Let’s be honest, most of us aren’t getting even close to that number! I know I wasn’t. If you struggle with this, I would highly recommend giving juicing a try. Not only is juicing a great way to get a large number of servings of fruits and veggies in one sitting, it has proven health benefits for all ages.
Before getting started, I recommend watching the documentary Fat, Sick & Nearly Dead.The documentary follows an overweight man, who was struggling with a debilitating autoimmune disease and on several different medications, who decided to change his life by altering his diet. He traded in junk food for fresh fruit and vegetable juice for 60 days. The transformation and healing that takes place in his body is amazing! If you are struggling with health issues, please consider how a healthy diet could help heal your body. The documentary is entertaining and also thought-provoking.
You are probably wondering how to get started, so let’s get down to the nitty-gritty! This is the type of juicer I would recommend. It is an investment to start, but I have never regretted my purchase. I chose a masticating, or cold-press, juicer because it is very effective in juicing leafy vegetables and herbs. This one is a bit more expensive than a centrifugal juicer, but doesn’t produce as much heat, so more nutrients are left intact. It’s fun to try different combinations of fruits and vegetables, but this is one of my favorite recipes.
